Licensing and Activation
Single User Licensing
Network Licensing
Single User Licensing
With a single user license, you can install the software on up to two computers, regardless of
whether they are standalone or connected to a network. When you start the program for the first time on each computer,
you will be prompted to activate your license by entering its serial number. This serial number, together
with a download link, will be immediately emailed to you after the purchase is completed.
Note: To enable activation, you require Internet access on each computer. Once the
activation process is completed, you can use the software without an Internet connection.

Network Licensing
Overview
The network license supported by hykelab software is a concurrent access model. This means that
the license enables you to install the software on all of the computers on a single local
area network. The maximum number of users that can simultaneously access the software at any given time
is determined by the specific license purchased. For example, a 50-user license allows up to 50 users
to access the software at any given time. This concurrent usage model is ideal for computer labs or
classrooms, where there may be large numbers of computers available, but only some of which in use
at any given time.
The License Manager
The Hykelab License Manager makes concurrent licenses available to hykelab products installed
on your network. The License Manager itself requires to be installed on a server that will be
available during normal access hours (e.g. during the school day). Whenever a user starts
a hykelab program on a computer in the network, the License Manager will grant it a license. When the
user closes the program, the license will be returned to the License Manager and
made available to other users on the network.
Installation
Network installation consists of two parts:
First, you install the product's License Manager package on a server computer and activate the license by
entering the serial number. This activation only requires to be performed once for the entire network.
The second step is to install the actual software on the client computers. There are three
supported methods for this task:
- Manually install from a shared folder: Download the setup program into a shared folder and manually
run the program on each client computer.
- Use Active Directory Group Policy: Deploy the Windows Installer (MSI) package for the product
using the Software Installation feature of Active Directory Group Policy.
- Use a third-party deployment tool: Download the setup program into a shared folder and configure
a third-party software deployment tool to run the program on each client computer.
