Key Features
AMaths is a learning and revision software designed to help
you build a good foundation in A'Level mathematics and develop your knowledge of
topics in the core units. Each section presents a clear description
of a particular mathematical concept, followed by fully worked examples and a set of
questions with step-by-step solutions.
Built-in calculation features enable you to practise a particular style of question
with values automatically suggested by the software or typed into the question text.

Variable-Input Questions
Each topic contains one or more variable-input questions that change each
time they are displayed, which means you can repeat the same style of question
with a different calculation each time. Specific values can also be typed into the changing
parts of the question and AMaths will calculate the new solution based
on the input, complete with graphs and diagrams.

Miscellaneous Questions
A special miscellaneous questions topic helps with revision by
automatically presenting questions at random from all of the different topics in AMaths.

Topics
AMaths is divided into two units covering the following topics:
Unit 1
- Algebra and Functions: functions and graphs, solution of quadratic equations,
solution of simultaneous quadratic equations, solution of quadratic inequalities,
graph transformations, cubic functions, reciprocal functions.
- Coordinate Geometry: the equation of a straight line, gradient and y-intercept,
parallel and perpendicular lines, intersection points.
- Sequences and Series: generating terms of a sequence, finding the nth term of
a sequence, arithmetic series.
- Differentiation: derivatives from first principals, rules of differentiation,
first order derivatives, second order derivatives.
- Integration: integral of a function, integration of a constant, integration rules.
Unit 2
- Algebra and Functions: remainder and factor theorem, steps of division.
- Coordinate Geometry: equation of a circle, tangent to a circle, perpendicular from a centre,
angle between two chords.
- Sequences and Series: geometric series, binomial expansion.
- Trigonometry: representation of an angle, trigonometric functions and graphs,
trigonometric identities, solving trigonometric equations.
- Exponentials and Logarithms: exponential functions, logarithmic functions,
laws of logarithms, changing the base of a logarithm, solving exponential equations.
- Differentiation: stationary points of a curve, increasing functions,
strictly increasing functions, finding stationary points.
- Integration: definite integrals, the area under a curve, the trapezium rule.
